‘Midnight In Paris’ Comes to Atlanta with Boucherie Dinners at BLT Steak

Meat Week Series Continues April 22-28 with ‘Beef Week’

“What is it with this city? I need to write a letter to the Chamber of Commerce.” – Gil Pender in Midnight in Paris

I first learned of “The Meat Week Boucherie Dinner” series when it launched back in February with ‘Wild Game Week’. It turns out, this was a returning series of four-course dinners featuring whole-animal cookery.  Intrigued, I waited for the launch of ‘Veal Week’ in late March to see what it was all about. Plus, any excuse for me to enjoy BLT’s famed popovers is always a good idea.

St. Patrick’s Day 2012

Image Detail

You’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?”

Ah, who doesn’t love a Clint Eastwood quote? And, hey, he’s part Irish too. And, if he lived in Atlanta, I’m certain he’d be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by eating Irish food and guzzling many, many beers in one of the numerous restaurants and pubs in Atlanta. Read on to see why…

The “Fancy Pants” Burger at Grindhouse

Oh, you fancy, huh?

How do you stand out among a sea of burger joints? Make your burgers special. Each Tuesday brings something new and delicious to Grindhouse when they add a unique addition to their regular menu. Today’s special? A thick, juicy 1/2 pound burger on a fresh baked bun, cooked to any temp (as rare as you want) topped with aged white cheddar, habanero pimento cheese, sliced cornichons, field greens, and a house-made tarragon mustard, served with fresh cut fries and a chipotle honey mustard dipping sauce, all for 10 bucks. If you’re feeling frisky, add on a boozy milkshake and sit on that badass patio of theirs. It’s a perfect score in our book.

Interesting Appetizers

Good things come in small packages…

Someone once said that appetizers are the little things you keep eating until you lose your appetite. And with the varied appetizers and small plates around town, it may very well be true. One can easily make an entire meal by sampling from the small plates on a menu. Read on for some of my personal favorites.

Food Truck Wednesdays in Virginia Highland

Put some umph in your hump day…

You see them all over the place – Virginia Highland, Midtown, Buckhead, Atlantic Station, Woodruff Arts Center. Food trucks are increasingly present, and hopefully even more so in the future. It all seemed to start with the King of Pop’s delicious, gourmet popsicles (and with flavors like chocolate sea salt, pineapple habanero, and tangerine basil, of course they’re popular); but now, food trucks are popping up all over the city and there’s no shortage of variety: Korean style tacos from the Yumbii truck, perfectly cooked fries with numerous toppings from The Fry Guy, Southern-inspired gelato flavors from Honeysuckle Gelato’s truck, every hot dog you can imagine from The Pup Truck, delicious Venezuelan stuffed, griddled corn cakes (called Arepas) from the WOW! Truck, and so much more.
