FlyBarre Challenge, Week 3: Getting Past the Hump

Pinching Fat

This “hump” isn’t of the Wednesday variety…

We’re in week three of classes, meaning the initial novelty of the Challenge has worn off, and it’s time to find new inspiration and motivation to get to the mat. Some of us got just that when we saw the results of our mid-challenge measurement.

The “Fancy Pants” Burger at Grindhouse

Oh, you fancy, huh?

How do you stand out among a sea of burger joints? Make your burgers special. Each Tuesday brings something new and delicious to Grindhouse when they add a unique addition to their regular menu. Today’s special? A thick, juicy 1/2 pound burger on a fresh baked bun, cooked to any temp (as rare as you want) topped with aged white cheddar, habanero pimento cheese, sliced cornichons, field greens, and a house-made tarragon mustard, served with fresh cut fries and a chipotle honey mustard dipping sauce, all for 10 bucks. If you’re feeling frisky, add on a boozy milkshake and sit on that badass patio of theirs. It’s a perfect score in our book.

Smashburger ATL

Smashing…simply smashing…

I think it’s best that we get this out of way first and foremost. Yes. This is a post about a burger joint. Yes. Atlanta already has an overabundance of said burger joints. Yes. Not in the least.

Cafe 640

The view of N. Highland Avenue is a steady stream of joggers, moms pushing babies in strollers, droves of cyclers, and a handsome hipster or two headed to the art gallery next door.

Grindhouse Killer Burgers Soft Opening Party

You will kill for these burgers…

The only thing soft about Grindhouse’s soft opening on Monday night, was that creamy pimento cheese…because everything else was hardcore. They really do make a killer burger. Oh, and that pimento cheese — it’s perfect — the right texture of cheese, small chunks of peppers, the perfect amount of spice, and still creamy and gooey.

A Sneak Peek Inside the New Grindhouse Killer Burgers!

Women cry for it! Men die for it!

With a slogan like that, you know Grindhouse is all about good food and good fun. We were lucky enough to get a behind-the-scenes peek inside the new Grindhouse location in Piedmont Heights this weekend, and we must say we’re pretty excited about it. The interior design is just as killer as the burgers, and with ample seating, huge bar, and an enormous patio, there’s not a bad seat in the joint.

The Bocado Burger Stack

The burger is still alive and well…

So who out there is bored with the enduring burger movement in Atlanta? No one? Cool, me either. Especially when you can enjoy an intepretation that will restore your faith in what a real burger should be.
