With so much variety and an inordinate amount of new restos opening daily, traveling outside of the Midtown/Downtown “safe zone” can be a daunting task. But every once in awhile a place comes along to make gassing up your car and traveling into unchartered territory more worthwhile. I Spirit Vodka

Italian vodka…yes, we’re quite serious…

Imagine that you’ve been invited to a traditional Italian dinner. The spread is wrought with artisanal cheeses, breads, meats, and pastas. Basically you’re dining at the Louis Restaurant from The Godfather, sans the murder and violence. The waiter brings out a tall teardrop-shaped bottle of a brilliantly crystal spirit. In utter disbelief that no wine is being served at the Italian feast, you’re even more shocked to find the crystal spirit adorned in a bed of freshly-picked cherry tomatoes, aromatic basil, and assorted wild berries. The waiter explains that this is the I Spirit Vodka tasting experience, and that your world is about to be forever changed.

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry…

Just in time for these wonderful autumnal temperatures, Inman Park Restaurant Week continues through September 25th. Take a stroll through historic Inman Park and stop at any one of the 14 participating restaurants, where you’ll enjoy a three-course, prix fixe menu. The week-long gourmet affair will feature some of Inman Park’s most popular restaurants including Fritti, Rathbun’s, Sotto Sotto, Wisteria, Il Localino, Kevin Rathbun Steak, One Eared Stag, Parish, Sauced, Park’s Edge, Pure Taqueria, The Albert, Victory Sandwich Bar, and North Highland Pub. Not only will you enjoy delectable fare, but part of the proceeds will benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank. In other words, you can’t lose.

Neighborhood Discovery: WestSide Midtown

Movin’ on up… to the WestSide.

Centered around Howell Mill Road between 10th and 17th street, the WestSide is becoming one of the next best kitschy-cool neighborhoods in Atlanta, which rivals (or happily reminds you of) other well-known industrial haunts a la the Meatpacking District in NYC or Soho in London. One of our good blogger friends @ATLCeliacGirl is seriously allergic to both gluten and dairy. Have you ever tried to find things to eat that are free of both? I’ve tried. It’s not easy.
